How to Photograph Your Campervan to Sell It Faster
Good photos are the difference between a van that sells in days and one that sits for months. Here's how to photograph your campervan properly.
Buyers decide in seconds whether to open your advert, and the photos are the reason. A campervan photographed badly looks neglected; the same van photographed well looks like a bargain. Fortunately you don't need a professional camera — a smartphone and a sunny day will do.
Set the scene
Find a clean, uncluttered location with even light. A quiet car park, a driveway, or a field works well. Avoid midday sun, which creates harsh shadows — early morning or late afternoon light is kinder. Make sure the background isn't a skip or a busy road.
The shots that sell
- A front three-quarter view at eye level — this is your cover photo.
- The rear, showing the back doors open.
- Both sides, taken square-on.
- The interior from the sliding door, showing the layout.
- The kitchen, with worktop cleared and taps polished.
- The bed area, made up and tidy.
- The dashboard and cab.
- Close-ups of the tyres, wheels and any special features.
Take at least twenty shots and pick the best eight to twelve. Every photo in your advert should make the van look like a van someone wants to own.
Edit lightly
Brighten slightly, straighten the horizon and crop out clutter, but never use heavy filters — buyers want to see the real van. Honest photos build trust, and trust sells.
Write the advert to match
Great photos get the click; a strong description closes the sale. See writing a campervan advert that actually sells for the words that go with the pictures, then list your van and watch the enquiries come in.
